Pantheons
So what pantheon should you use? Should you even use one? Should
you mix different Gods and Goddesses from different pantheons?
These are all questions that people ask themselves and others
as they search for the right pantheon. Firstly, you might feel a calling to a particular God and Goddess, this is usually
the God/dess calling Their children to Them, but you might not...if you do then follow your heart and reasearch this God/dess,
maybe Their the right deity for you. If you don't get this 'calling' don't worry, all you really have to do is research all
the God/desses of a particular culture that your interested in. Learn about your God/dess and pray to Them, see if you feel
comfortable with Them and if They respond to you. To build upon connections you should pray and do certain rituals at a certain
time, every time to show dedication to Them. When you find the right God/dess, you'll know. It's like when you find the right
path, you just know it in your heart, mind and soul.
If you want to learn about the deity you'll find that link
above in the links box.
There are some pantheons that seem to be especially popular, like
the Greek or Egyptian, and I've found that some pagans just worship these Gods because They are popular and They get mentioned
a lot on pagan web pages. You have to realise that there are many, many Gods out there waiting to be found in a pantheon that
is hardly worshipped, whatever other people worship doesn't matter. If you still can't find a pantheon, call to the God and
Goddess, in those terms, pray to Them, ask Them for signs in your dreams or meditations of the pantheon to choose.
You also must remember the pantheon you choose will also
be the culture that effects the way to worship...and you have to also find what the Gods of different cultures forbid e.g.
eating pig's meat during a ritual with near eastern gods will be a HUGE mistake as pig is a forbidden food.
The different God/desses also call upon different ways of
approaching...
- Drinking alcohol is a big no whilst working with Dark Gods and Goddesses.
In fact drinking any alcohol during the time period of magickal
work has to be thought about carefully and of course any other drugs.
- Having a ritual with added humor with a serious God/dess will not
be approved.
There are many other things so research your type of God and Goddess.
The way you structure a ritual will come easily as you develop your connection with your Gods.
(Mixing pantheons is still to come, watch this space!)
Losing faith?
Do you ever feel that you've lost the faith because that part of yourself
created by mankind and society is teaching you to ignore what's inside.
Well that happened to me recently. I lost touch with the Goddess and God and felt so empty sometimes
and also I was very busy and with personal problems this all added up. But I found to rekindle my faith, meditation was the
right path for me and I began to wonder is Wicca the right path?
Well it's such an eclectic faith it probably is, The Sabbats and the connection with the Earth
is one I want to sustain. It's what keeps me going in an otherwise bleak world.
I've seen a lot of negativity and hate recently but now, the opening for a new beginning is here
and thank the Gods it is too. I feel ashamed that I haven't always followed the Sabbats and only paid lip-service to my faith.
But, I found that the Goddess and God are ALWAYS with me, always part of my conscious and unconscious. They will always be
part of me, because I dedicated myself to them. I may not always remember to say thank you here and now but I know my spirit
is eternally grateful to Them for calling me.
The next step is a big one, where I find my feet again in the Wiccan world, between the world.
But I have to take it when I'm ready and I know that because I've been here before and I know that the faith is still in my
heart, no matter what happened in the past and who tried to control me or undermine me, I will definitely come up stronger
with the strength and guidance from the Lord and Lady.
